CAMP DESCRIPTION: The Hillcrest Academy Girls Basketball Camp is a three-day camp that will focus on the fundamentals of basketball through individual drills, group drills, station work, competitions, and games. Our goal is to ensure that each player who attends the camp will be challenged, have an enjoyable experience, and leave with a greater understanding of the game.
CAMP FEATURES:
Offensive Fundamentals: Shooting form, passing, ball-handling, and individual skills.
Defensive Fundamentals: Proper stance and footwork, on ball and help-side positioning, rebounding, and communication.
Team Fundamentals: Players will be divided into teams to help implement the individual skills learned into a team setting.
Camp Director, Mitchell Drey is in his third year as the Hillcrest Academy Assistant Athletic Director and Girls’ Basketball Coach. He teaches Physical Education and Health at Hillcrest. He is a graduate of Gretna (Nebraska) High School (2013) and a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan University (2018) with a degree in Physical Education and Master’s degree in Athletic Department Administration (2020).
Mitchell played four years of high school basketball at Gretna high school and his teams qualified for state two times. Mitchell was selected to the All-Omaha Area boys basketball team and All-State Second team his senior year. He was also selected as the Most Valuable Teammate of the Nebraska Coaches Association boys basketball all-star game that year. Mitch was All Eastern Midlands Conference his junior and senior years.
Mitch attended Nebraska Wesleyan University his freshman year and was medically redshirted due to injury. He transferred to Iowa Wesleyan University where he played for four years. He was a three year starter for the Tigers who qualified for the USCAA National Tournament in two seasons. Mitchell was also fortunate enough to be selected as a USCAA Honorable Mention All-American his senior year.
Mitchell’s previous coaching experience includes assisting in the coaching the Iowa Wesleyan University Men’s team and Junior Varsity team as a graduate assistant.

ELIGIBILITY: Camp is open to girls entering grades 5-12.
COST: $50 per child
