Dates
July 22 – 24

CAMP DESCRIPTION: Our goal is to make every camper a better person and basketball player.  We want to have the girls that come through our camps learn how to play the game with sound fundamentals and great effort. We want every player to leave challenged in all areas of their game. We believe that players can learn valuable life lessons from the game of basketball and we try to help them see those lessons and apply them to their lives.

ACHIEVEMENT “Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.”

CAMP FUNDAMENTALS: Each player that attends camp will receive instruction in all areas of basketball. The emphasis will be on strong fundamentals with particular emphasis on proper shooting and ball handling mechanics, proper individual defensive skills, and how to play team basketball. Every player will be evaluated and given a player profile card with areas of strength and areas of improvement. They will leave with a list of new drills that they can use to practice on their own to help improve their skills. Players will be placed on a team for the three days and will play six games over the course of the three days.

ATTITUDE: Attitude and mental preparation are very important and will affect your camp success.
Please come prepared to learn and work hard.

Chris NachtigallCAMP DIRECTOR: Coach Chris Nachtigall is the new Head Girls’ Basketball Coach, but he is no stranger to the girls’ basketball program.  He previously coached the Hillcrest girls’ varsity team in 2010-11 and the team made huge strides during that season. With a focus on sound fundamentals and tough defense they came within just seconds from advancing to the regional quarter-finals for the first time in over 10 years. This past season he was the head jv boys’ coach and assistant varsity boys’ coach at Hillcrest Academy.  Starting in 2011 he spent 7 years as the head softball coach at Northwestern College compiling an overall record of 192-143, winning the conference 3 times.  Coach Nachtigall served as an assistant women’s basketball coach for Northwestern during the 2014-15 season.  He has 15 years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels.

“At Hillcrest our goal is to have players that become the best person first and foremost and then also the best basketball player they can be.  We believe the first allows the second to happen.  As a basketball player we don’t  just want our players to play the game but to understand the game. We strive to have players not just learn skills but learn why and how they should use those skills.” Coach Nachtigall
