    CAMP DESCRIPTION: Hillcrest Academy Basketball Camp will seek to provide sound instruction of basketball fundamentals within an environment also conducive to personal growth and spiritual development. It is imperative that each camper come with an attitude of openness to what is involved in becoming a better person as well as a better basketball player.

    Hillcrest Basketball Camp will emphasize progressive in­struction on the basic fundamentals of basketball. Each camper will be taught the proper techniques of shooting, passing, offensive moves, and valuable ball-handling skills as well as defensive techniques, rebounding fun­damentals and position play. Camp will be fun! It will also be work! Each camper will be pushed, regardless of skill level, to improve his game.

    Coed Kids Camp for 1st-4th Grade: Run by the Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Head Coaches, this camp emphasizes shooting and offensive fundamentals while building confidence and having fun on the court.

    CAMP FEATURES:
    Competition and Games daily. 

    Camp Director, Coach Stephen Bender has been named the new Head Boys Basketball Coach at Hillcrest Academy for the 2025–26 school year. Coach Bender brings a wealth of experience, having coached boys basketball at West Branch for eight years. He also led the Mid-Prairie girls basketball program for six seasons, earning a state tournament appearance in 2016. Coach Bender previously served as an assistant boys basketball coach at Hillcrest and is excited to return to the program in a leadership role.

    Additional staff will consist of current high school coaches and college & high school players.

    Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

    LOCATION: Hillcrest Academy, 1421 540th Street SW, Kalona, Iowa 52247
    ELIGIBILITY: Coed kids camp is open to boys & girls going into grades 1 – 4. The boys camps are open to boys entering grades 5 – 10. Each camp is limited to 40 campers.
    COST: 1st-4th grade kids: $45 per child
    5th-10th grade boys: $55 per child
    REGISTRATION & PAYMENTS: All camp registrations and payments will now be through the Bound website. 
    WHAT TO BRING: Basketball or tennis shoes and a water bottle with your child’s name on it. Please your leave basketballs at home.
