CAMP DESCRIPTION: Transformation: From Trash to Treasure
From an ordinary throw away Altoid tin, you can use your boundless imagination and transform this object into your own uniquely sculpted chest. You will also create your own tiny treasures from polymer clay and other media to keep enclosed in your new transfigured box. Some of the treasures you will be able to create are jewelry, small creatures, scenes, or themed artifacts. These are just a few ideas; the possibilities are endless.

In this workshop you will learn new techniques on how to sculpt and paint, in addition to how to use polymer clay and multimedia, especially items you might throw away or recycle. Utilizing your already magical creative mind and these new techniques you will be able to create anything! At the end of the camp each of you will take home the transformed tin you created and everything you made for inside it. Come and join our adventure!

Camp Director, Rachael Hovde is an artist who loves every medium of art including sculpting, jewelry making, drawing, design, and even baking/food creations. The times when she is not creating unique experiences or new creations, she is a substitute teacher at Hillcrest Academy and has been for a few years. Rachael is an Iowa Mennonite School alumni class of 2018, and she has her BA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University. As a follower of Christ, her faith is always at the center of all of her creations. Her main passion is creating meaningful experiences for others, from teaching to putting together elaborate movie marathons or themed banquets to creating pieces of traditional art.
