Scott lowers 100 and 200 records in Lisbon

Senior Rya Scott continued to revise the Hillcrest Ravens track and field record books Thursday April 16 at the Lisbon Invite. Scott won the 200 meter dash in 26.36 seconds. This is both a new meet record and a new Hillcrest Academy school record. The previous record of 26.54 seconds was set by Rya in 2024 at the Ekstrand relays. Adia Scott also scored in the 200 meter dash placing fifth in 28.26 seconds. Niva Helmuth ran a personal best of 29.53 seconds in the event. Scott placed second in the 100 meter dash in 12.58 seconds. The event winner had the same time. Both broke the previous meet record. Rya broke her own school record of 12.63 seconds set at the Eastern Iowa Track and Field Festival last Saturday. Adia Scott placed fourth in the 100 meter dash in 13.10 seconds. Niva Helmuth and Carla Raphael also ran the 100 meters and both recorded personal best times. The quartet of Raphael, Adia Scott, Helmuth and Rya Scott placed eighth in the 4 x 100 meter relay with a time of 54.47 seconds.
Gibson Scott had the highest place for the boys team placing third in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 16.83 seconds. Owen Scott continues to bring his 100 meter time down as he is recovering from an ACL tear last fall. Owen ran the short sprint race in 12.02 seconds to place seventh. Kayden Estell placed ninth in the 200 meter dash in 24.65 seconds. Estell also ran a personal best of 59.72 seconds in the 400 meter dash. Gibson Scott placed ninth in the long jump. Jaxson Brokaw had a personal best of 13.32 in the 100 meter dash. The Ravens compete next at Louisa-Muscatine Thursday April 23.
