Ravens Track and Field Competes in Wapello

Senior Leah Bontrager led the Hillcrest Ravens girls track and field team Monday in Wapello with a third place in the 800 meter run.  She also anchored the distance medley relay to a third place.  Bontrager led much of the second lap of the 800, but was outkicked in the home stretch.  Her time was 2:41.89.  The distance medley relay included Malia Yoder, Morgyn Nafziger, Delaney Shaw and Bontrager.  Their time of 5:02.77 was a season best.  Yoder, Nafziger, Shaw and Bontrager also teamed up for the sprint medley relay finishing fifth in 2:09.18.  Yoder finished fourth in the high jump at 4’6” in her first high jump competition this year.  Yoder was also fifth in the 200 meter dash with a season best time of 30.65 seconds.  Shaw was two places back also running a season best time which was 31.35 seconds.  Morgyn Nafziger placed eighth in the 100 meter dash in 15.04 seconds.  Hillcrest was sixth in the field of six teams with 20 points.

Quang Huynh competed in three events in the boys division.  He placed sixth in the 200 meter dash running 28.52 seconds.  He was tenth in the 400 meter dash in 1:09.8.  And his 100 meter time was 13.71 seconds putting him in fourteenth place.

The Ravens compete next in Lone Tree Monday April 11.
