Martin Luther King, Jr. Day inspires Jan. 20 to 24 chapels

Our chapels this week were primarily shaped by the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

On Monday, Jan. 20, as an all school assembly, we viewed the movie, “Selma”. The movie depicts the events and circumstances around this important event in the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s in the U. S.

Tuesday’s chapel time was spent in small groups. This setting provided the opportunity for students to process their thoughts about watching “Selma” the day before.

On Wednesday, we gathered in the lobby of Celebration Hall to sing hymns and songs that were Martin Luther King, Jr’s favorites as well as songs that were influential during the Civil Rights movement.

Thursday and Friday chapels were postponed because of weather.
