Ravens Achieve Their Feat
The Hillcrest Academy girls track and field team amassed 58.5 team points at the Gardner-Wilson Relays
hosted by Louisa-Muscatine Thursday night. This is the highest total team points the team has scored
since 2016 at the state qualifier meet. Five young women achieved this feat. Conditions were perfect
with temperatures in the mid 60s under clear skies. The point scoring began with the field events.
Delaney Shaw had a personal best long jump of 15 feet 3 inches to win. Malia Yoder cleared a personal
best 4 feet 8 inches to place second in the high jump. On the track, Leah Bontrager was a victor in the
1500 meter run in a season best 5:39.90. The distance medley relay team of Yoder, Morgyn Nafziger,
Shaw and Bontrager placed first in a season best time of 4:50.33. Nafziger was second in the 100 meter
dash. Bontrager was also second in the 800 meter run in a season best time of 2:37.72. The sprint
medley relay team of Yoder, Nafziger, Shaw and Bontrager placed fifth despite a dropped baton in the
third exchange. Yoder placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with Shaw close behind tying for sixth. Erin
Bontrager had two seventh places and two personal bests in the 100 and 400 meter dashes.

Quang Huynh recorded two personal bests in his three sprint events. His biggest improvement came in the 400 meter dash where he brought his time down to 1:06.78. His new personal best in the 200 meter dash is now 27.20 seconds. He also raced the 100 meter dash.
The Ravens compete next on the oval in Wayland at the Ekstrand Relays hosted by WACO April 28.
