Chapels: Nov. 15-24

Chapels: Nov. 15-24

Our emphasis for our chapels during this time was on International Education Week and Thanksgiving.

On Monday, November 15, four of our faculty members who have been overseas were on a panel. Andrea Farrier (English), Dick Yoder-Short (math), Bryn Hovde (art), and Marcus Miller (social studies) responded to questions about their experiences of being in a culture different from their own.

On Tuesday, we had a planned late start so there was no chapel time.

Wednesday’s chapel featured biology teacher Mike Severino Patterson talking about his experiences of living in Ecuador. We were able to hear greetings from the church that some of Mike’s family is a part of in Ecuador.

On Thursday, we heard from international students Vlada Conea (Moldova) and Quang Huynh (Vietnam) about their countries.

Friday’s chapel was a hymn sing held in the Celebration Hall foyer. Lee Ebersole, Bible teacher, led songs that were from a variety of cultures.

On Monday, November 22, we expressed our gratitude for each other in the Hillcrest community by writing affirmation notes to each other. These are to encourage and affirm each other in our community together.

Tuesday’s chapel time was spent in small groups.

Wednesday’s chapel wrapped up our week of thanksgiving with the Praise Band leading in worship through song.
