Hillcrest Track Teams Show Speed and Progress at Wartburg Indoor Meet

The Hillcrest Academy Ravens girls track and field team placed fourth in the thirty-six team indoor meet held at Wartburg College in Waverly March 24. Rya Scott (’26) had a great day winning the 55 meter dash in 7.38 seconds. Both Rya and Adia Scott (’29) made the finals in the field of fifty-seven competitors. Adia placed eighth. Adia’s best time of 7.74 seconds was in the preliminary round. Rya also placed third in the 200 finishing the one-lap race on the indoor oval in 26.96 seconds. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Karina Bourha (’27), Adia Scott, Niva Helmuth (’26) and Rya Scott also placed third. Their time was 1:52.81. Siena Stanerson (’26) placed fourth in the 3000 meter run in 11:57.05. Stanerson also placed seventh in the 1500 finishing in 5:39.90. Niva Helmuth placed seventh in the shot put. Her best throw was marked at thirty-one feet nine and one quarter inch.

The boys team’s performances were highlighted by several personal bests. Braden Hartsock (’27) broke twelve minutes in the 3200 meter run for the first time finishing in 11:59.48. Enoch Adza (’27) had his best time ever in the 400 meter dash finishing in 1:00.53. Gibson Scott’s (’28) time of 24.84 seconds in the 200 meter dash was a personal best. The Ravens next competition is outdoors at Tipton March 31.
