Hillcrest Girls Compete at IC West JV Meet

Monday a quartet of young women from Hillcrest Academy competed in the Iowa City West junior varsity track and field meet.  The four sprinters won two of the three sprint relays.  Morgyn Nafziger, Anna Torok, Delaney Shaw and Rya Scott won the 4 x 100 meter relay in a season best time of 54.40 seconds.  They also won the 4 x 200 meter relay in a season best time of 1:57.30.  The same group placed third in the 800 medley relay in 2:04.71.  A dropped baton in the first exchange cost several seconds and possibly the win.  Each athlete also competed in one individual event.  Rya Scott won the 200 meter dash in a personal best time of 27.22.  Delaney Shaw placed fifth in the long jump in fourteen feet eleven inches.  Anna Torok edged out Morgyn Nafziger in the 100 meter dash for seventh place.  Anna ran a new personal best of 14.13 seconds.  Morgyn’s time was 14.20 seconds for eighth place.  No team scores were kept.  The Ravens boys and girls teams both compete Thursday in Wayland at the WACO 1A state qualifier meet.  Field events begin at 4:00 p.m. and running events begin at 4:30 p.m.
