Ravens Rack Up Personal Bests at Burlington

Thursday the Hillcrest Ravens boys cross country team had a strong showing at the Burlington invitational.  The Ravens placed sixth in the field of eleven teams.  Troy Yoder led the Ravens placing sixteenth in 17:53  This was his first sub 18 minute clocking.  Calvin Meller also had a personal best of 18:00 placing seventeenth overall.  Braden Hartsock was the third raven to cross the line.  Hartsock placed thirty-fourth in 18:34.  Jaxson Brokaw had a season best time of 19:18 to place forty-second.  Senior Isaac Beachy had a strong final mile to place fifty-eighth in a season best 20:53.  Danny Meyer chopped a full minute and a half off his previous personal best.  Meyer placed sixty-fourth in 22:13.  Merle Cronquist had a similar improvement over his previous best.  Cronquist placed seventy-fourth in 23:35.  Lucas Beachy lowered his personal best time by over one minute.  Lucas finished in 23:40.  Paxton Wilson was nearly four minutes faster than he had raced previously.  Wilson’s time was 24:23.  Clear Creek-Amana won the team title.  Junior Carson Meskimen of Clear Creek-Amana won the individual title in 16:01.

Senior Marie Yoder had her best race of the season to place sixth in 20:59.  This was nearly a full minute faster than her previous season best time.  Amelia Vigneron took over three and a half minutes off her previous personal best.  Vigneron placed fifty-sixth in 28:56.  Sophomore Ali Seidl of Clear Creek-Amana won the girls race in 19:09.  Clear Creek-Amana also won the team title in a convincing fashion.      

The Hillcrest Ravens boys junior high team won the team title.  The young Ravens are now undefeated in three outings.  The top four boys Ravens finishers Thursday were Ezana Estrada, Cameron Ropp, Michael Sam and Tate Miller.  

The Raven cross country teams will be hosted next by Iowa City High at Iowa City Kickers Soccer Complex Thursday October 1.
