Raven Pack Pushes Hillcrest to Third at Fairfield

Braden Hartsock led a Raven lead pack of three Thursday in Fairfield.  Hartsock placed twenty-second overall in the two-class meet with a time of 18:30.  Troy Yoder and Calvin Meller finished one second behind Hartsock in twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth places.  All three ran personal best times while running a nearly even paced race. Their final mile was their fastest.  Jaxson Brokaw was the fourth Raven to finish placing seventy-fourth overall in 20:41.  Isaac Beachy was the Raven’s fifth finisher placing 103rd overall in 21:46.  Beachy’s final mile was thirty seconds faster than either of his first two miles.  Senior Danny Meyer completed his first 5k cross country race placing 145th in 23:47.  Freshman Merle Cronquist also made his high school debut placing 161st in 24:53.  Lucas Beachy completed the course over one minute faster than he did last year.  Beachy placed 171st in 25:36.  Hillcrest Ravens placed third of ten teams in the A division (A and 2A schools) of the meet.  Owen Osterhaus of Prairie City-Monroe won the boys race in 16:48.  Prairie City-Monroe also won the A division team title with 36 points.

Marie Yoder placed fifteenth overall in the girls race of the two-class meet with a time of 21:57.  Sophomore Amelia Vigneron ran her first cross country race placing 113th in 32:39.  Prairie City-Monroe won the A division title with 38 points.  Freshman Harper Winegarden of Williamsburg was the individual winner of the combined race touring the route in 18:56.

The Hillcrest Ravens junior high boys team won the team title of the A division.  Scorers for the Ravens win are Ezana Estrada, Cameron Ropp, Tate Miller and Michael Sam.  The Ravens girls junior high team placed fifth of five full teams in the A division.   

The Ravens compete next at Noll Ridge Country club in North English Tuesday September 15.
