Ravens Run Away From Warhawks to Win in Cedar Rapids

The Hillcrest Academy Raven softball team scored a quality win in the home-stretch Thursday, beating up North Mahaska 10-4 at Mount Mercy University. Hillcrest went on top 1-0 and the Warhawks matched in the top of the second, then added two in the third to move ahead 3-1. After four for Hillcrest in the bottom half to take a 5-3 lead, North Mahaska got within 5-4 in the fifth, before the Ravens scored five unanswered to put the game away. Raven leaders at the plate included Isabelle Vigneron with three RBI, two hits and two runs scored. Lyla Genkinger drove in two on two hits with a run. Ella Mize had an RBI with a run on two hits. Genkinger was the winner in the circle, going all seven with eight hits, four earned runs and seven strikeouts. The Ravens run their record to 8-16, North Mahaska 17-6.
