Hillcrest Baseball Outlasts, Outduels Winfield-Mt. Union – July 3, 2026 – BSBL

Hillcrest and Winfield-Mt. Union faced off once again on Monday after their battle last week, and while the runs didn’t flow quite as freely for the Ravens, the hosts were still able to overcome the Wolves in a 2-1 contest.
WMU struck first in the top of the third, but that would end up being their only run of the game. Hillcrest would only score in a single inning themselves, but pushed two across in the fourth to take the lead and eventually, the game.
Hillcrest picked up just four hits to WMU’s eight, but made good use of them. Calvin Meller went 2-3, with Lincoln Miller and Rowan Miller each picking up a hit as well. Rylan Good scored one of the two decisive runs. Lawson Shrock earned the win, pitching five innings and giving up just the one run on two strikeouts. Beckett Miller pitched the remaining two innings.
For the Wolves, Parker Wilson went 3-3 with three singles. Trevor Phillips brought Wilson around to earn an RBI. Phillips took the loss on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings but striking out seven Ravens. Neither of the two runs against him were earned.

Seniors in Baseball, Softball, and Golf were all honored at this game. Baseball seniors are: Lincoln Miller, Ethan Yoder, and Rowan Miller. Golf seniors are: Claire Withrow, Rowan Miller and Ethan Yoder. Softball senior is Stavia Miller.
It was a split on campus at Hillcrest Academy for the Raven boys and girls summer sports teams against Louisa-Muscatine. In the baseball contest, the Ravens rode a power surge to a 15-11 win. Each team scored three in the first, with Hillcrest continuing to light up the board with two more in the second and batting around in a seven run third to go up 12-3. The Falcons answered by going all the way through their order in an eight run fourth. With their lead trimmed to one, Hillcrest pushed across one in the fourth and two more in the fifth to keep the Falcons at arm’s length. The Ravens piled up nine hits. Two for Lincoln Miller with four RBI and two runs. Two for Kellen Miller with a pair driven in. Lawson Schrock, Beckett Miller and Calvin Meller all had a hit and an RBI. Rowan Miller scored four times, he was also the winning pitcher with two and two thirds, no-hits an unearned run and five strikeouts. The Ravens improved to 11-9 with the win, the Falcons fall to 7-13.
The L-M softball team completed a season sweep of the Ravens with a 9-0 win in five innings. The Falcons put up five in the first, one in the second and three in the third to end the contest early. They out hit the Ravens 16-1. Ashlynn Watkins-Schoenig had two RBI on a double. Hannah Kissell finished with four hits, two runs and an RBI. Grace Hoopes was the winning pitcher, going the distance allowing one hit and striking out four. The Raven hit was a double from Emma Parizek. Lyla Genkinger threw five innings, with 14 hits, six earned runs, three walks and a strikeout. L-M is now 22-6, Hillcrest 7-16.
Ravens Run Away From Warhawks to Win in Cedar Rapids – July 6, 2026 – SB

The Hillcrest Academy Raven softball team scored a quality win in the home-stretch Thursday, beating up North Mahaska 10-4 at Mount Mercy University. Hillcrest went on top 1-0 and the Warhawks matched in the top of the second, then added two in the third to move ahead 3-1. After four for Hillcrest in the bottom half to take a 5-3 lead, North Mahaska got within 5-4 in the fifth, before the Ravens scored five unanswered to put the game away. Raven leaders at the plate included Isabelle Vigneron with three RBI, two hits and two runs scored. Lyla Genkinger drove in two on two hits with a run. Ella Mize had an RBI with a run on two hits. Genkinger was the winner in the circle, going all seven with eight hits, four earned runs and seven strikeouts. The Ravens run their record to 8-16, North Mahaska 17-6.
