Hillcrest Academy’s Withrow finishes 37th

The first golfer in program history to reach the state meet, Hillcrest’s Claire Withrow shot a 185, good for 37th place following a tiebreak for 35th.

Withrow emerged out of the strongest region in the state to reach the state meet, as the Wapello region where both Highland and Hillcrest competed included not only the top two team finishers in Easton Valley and Highland, but also Bellevue’s Brooklyn Tott, who finished in the top ten individually.

Hillcrest coach Warren Yoder discussed what Withrow’s accomplishment meant for the program, “It’s amazing, to have a program that did not even exist four years ago, and then to have a girl qualify for state, it means a lot.”

Withrow will continue her golf career at Northwestern College in Orange City.
