2026 Boys Golf Season Recap

The Hillcrest Ravens boys golf team had a standout postseason run in Class 1A competition, highlighted by a dominant sectional victory and an individual title performance leading to Rowan Miller ’26 qualifying for the State Meet in Newton.

Class 1A Sectional — Marengo Golf Course (May 15)

Hillcrest was the wire-to-wire team winner at the Marengo Golf Course sectional, posting a team score of 310. Rowan Miller was the star of the day, firing a blistering 5-under-par 67 to claim the individual title. Other Ravens scores included Lawson Schrock ’27 (78), Ethan Yoder ’26 (80), Jack Turner ’27 (85), Matthew Chalupa ’27 (87), and Oliver Miller ’29 (97).

Second place went to Sigourney (316), and Keota was third (318). All three local teams advanced to the District Tournament at Oskaloosa to compete for a Class 1A State Tournament bid.

The team reflected on playing in gusty wind conditions as good preparation heading into district play, noting that keeping the ball low and reading the course well on the front nine helped set up strong back-nine performances.
