Ravens Rise with Record Times and Career Bests at Conference Meet
Hillcrest Academy Track and Field at SEISC host by WACO May 7, 2026
The Hillcrest Ravens girls track and field team placed fifth of nine teams in the north division of the Southeast Iowa Super conference meet held in Wayland Thursday. Teams from both the north and south divisions were seeded together and competed against each other with the places and scores sorted by division. Rya Scott won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes winning over both divisions. Her 200 meter time of 26.16 seconds is a new personal best and Hillcrest school record. Rya also tied her school record of 12.53 seconds in the 100 meter dash. Adia Scott was third in both races. Siena Stanerson and Marie Yoder scored points in both the 3000 and 1500 meter runs. Stanerson placed fourth in the 3000 meter run in a personal best of 11:33.53. Yoder was one second behind with her best time this season. Stanerson placed fifth in the 1500 meter run in a season best 5:35.82. Yoder was sixth in 5:37.61. The distance duo teamed up with Carla Raphael and Zainab Shawgi in the 4 x 400 meter relay to place fourth. The 4 x 100 meter relay of Karina Bourha, Adia Scott, Niva Helmuth and Rya Scott placed a disappointing fifth place after dropping the baton in the first handoff. Brynna Boshart teamed up with Shawgi, Raphael and Bourha in the sprint medley relay placing fifth. Amelia Vigneron placed fifth in the 400 meter dash in a personal best time of 1:06.56. Her second personal best of the night was her 2:45.30 clocking in the 800 meter run. She placed seventh. Vigneron was also seventh best in the long jump with a best jump of thirteen feet 7.5 inches. Izzy Frederick had her best discus throw ever tossing the disc fifty-five feet 1.5 inches.
The boys team had five members present and scored a respectable thirty-two points for eighth place. Braden Hartsock and Calvin Meller scored ten of those points in the 3200 meter run. Hartsock finished the eight lap race in a personal best time of 11:05.62 for third place. Meller placed fifth in 11:33.36. Hartsock also had a personal best time in the 800 meter run. He placed eighth with a 2:19.35 clocking. Enoch Adza also had two personal best on the night. His 55.20 second time in the 400 meter dash placed him fourth while his time of 12.59 seconds in the 100 meter dash place him ninth. Kayden Estell placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in a new personal best time of 24.20 seconds. Gibson Scott had a great 110 meter high hurdle race finishing in fourth place with a season best time of 16.60 seconds.
The Ravens track and field teams compete next at the 1A state qualifier hosted by Sigourney Thursday May 14. Field events begin at 4:00 pm and running events begin at 4:45 pm.
