Hillcrest Competes Strongly at Savage Relays; Scott Wins 100

Rya Scott was the only event winner for both the Hillcrest boys and girls track and field teams at the Savage Relays held in Sigourney April 28. Scott won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.69 seconds. Adia Scott placed fourth in 13.13 seconds. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Karina Bourha, Adia Scott, Niva Helmuth and Rya Scott took second to Highland in 1:50.60. The two squads could meet two or more times yet this season. The cooler and sometimes rainy evening was more conducive to the distance events. Siena Stanerson placed third in the 3000 meter run in a personal best of 11:35.83. Marie Yoder was two places back finishing in a season best of 11:41.81. Yoder was fifth in the 1500 in another season best. The 1500 time was 5:32.09. Stanerson was seventh in a personal best time of 5:36.94. Amelia Vigneron had a personal best time of 1:10.64 in the 400 meter dash. Adia Scott placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in 28.58. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Bourha, Scott, Helmuth and Scott placed fourth in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 53.95 seconds.



Three athletes represented Hillcrest in the boys events. Braden Hartsock had two personal bests on the evening. His 3200 meter run of 11:14.71 placed sixth. Hartsock also had a career best time in the 800 placing fifteenth in 2:20.61. Gibson Scott placed sixth in the 110 meter high hurdles. Kayden Estell tied his career best of 11.85 in the 100 meter dash. He also took some time off his previous best in the 400 meter dash.

The Ravens track and field teams compete next at the Southeast Iowa Super Conference meet in Wayland hosted by WACO Thursday May 7.
