Adia Scott Leads Ravens at Gardner-Wilson Relays

Freshman Adia Scott led the way for the Hillcrest Ravens girls track and field team Thursday night in Rural Letts at the Gardner-Wilson Coed Relays hosted by Louisa-Muscatine Schools. Scott won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes in 13.86 and 28.56 seconds respectively. Zainab Shawgi raced in both races and came away with a new personal best in the 200 of 34.46 seconds. Siena Stanerson and Marie Yoder placed third and fourth in the 3000 meter run. Stanerson also placed fifth in the 1500 meter run. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Brynna Boshart, Carla Raphael, Molly Birky and Shawgi placed fourth. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Boshart, Raphael, Shawgi and Karina Bourha place fifth. Another fifth place came from the 1600 meter medley relay of Boshart, Raphael, Amelia Vigneron and Marie Yoder. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Vigneron, Yoder, Stanerson and Bourha also placed fifth. Vigneron had a huge personal best in the 800 of 2:49.91.


The boys team had two third place finishes. Braden Hartsock took third in the 3200 with a time of 11:53.10. Gibson Scott’s third place came in the 110 meter high hurdles. Scott was also fifth in the long jump with a best jump of 18 feet three inches. Kayden Estell took sixth in the 200 in 25.12 seconds. Both Estell and Enoch Adza had personal bests in the 400. Adza ran the lap in 56.65 seconds while Estell completed the distance in 59.36 seconds.
The Ravens compete next at the Drake Relays in Des Moines. Rya Scott will be running the 100 meter dash Friday. Rya, Adia Scott, Niva Helmuth and Karina Bourha will compete in the 4 x 100 meter dash Saturday.
