Mason Wilson ’27 Selected For USA Cycling Junior National Team

Junior Mason Wilson, has been selected to represent the United States on the USA Cycling Junior National Team at two prestigious international stage races in the Czech Republic this spring.

Wilson, 17, will compete in the Grand Prix West Bohemia (May 2–3) and the Course de la Paix Juniors (May 7–10) — both part of the UCI Men Junior Nations’ Cup, one of the most competitive junior cycling circuits in the world.

A rider for Above + Beyond Cancer Cycling and Lunchbox Racing, Wilson also gives back to the sport as an assistant coach for the Iowa City Mountain Bike Club. His national team selection comes on the heels of a breakthrough early season on the road, where he finished in the top 10 of the overall general classification at two separate three-day stage races which is a remarkable achievement for an athlete competing in his very first road events. He earned his spot after being evaluated against a highly competitive national field of candidates.

“We are incredibly proud of Mason and excited to see him represent the United States on an international stage,” said his father, Caleb Wilson ’05. “This is a tremendous honor for him and for our local cycling community, as he has been supported and mentored by so many folks in our community.”

Mason departs for Brussels on April 28 to meet up with his USA Cycling Junior National teammates to begin training for the two races in Czech Republic.
