2026 Graduation Ceremonies Speakers: A Well-Know and Historic Pair

The Hillcrest Academy 78th graduation ceremonies will be guided by two individuals whose names are synonymous with the spirit, history, and heart of our school. To many within our school community, Ron Swartzendruber F ’87-05 and Dwight Gingerich ’76, F ’81-25 are a familiar duo, synonymous with decades of service and dedication. Their mark on the school’s history and culture spans generations, and both men have left a lasting legacy as teachers, coaches, and mentors.

RON SWARTZENDRUBER: A devoted teacher and coach, Ron’s influence on the field and in the classroom is a living part of our school’s history. His appearance before the microphone this year is especially poignant as he celebrates this achievement with his granddaughter, Nora, a member of the Class of ’26.

DWIGHT GINGERICH: A member of the Class of ’76, Dwight returned to the school in 1981 and remained until his retirement in 2025. His resume reflects nearly every role imaginable within our school family, from teacher and counselor to renowned coach and our 13th principal.

A Connection Beyond the Classroom
While both men have achieved incredible success within our school family, there is a deeper, more profound connection between Ron and Dwight, and that is their love for this school. Their presence at this year’s graduation events represents a bridge between our school’s storied past and bright future.

Ron Swartzendruber will serve as our Baccalaureate speaker on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:00 PM and Dwight Gingerich will deliver the Commencement address on Sunday, May 24 at 6:00 PM. Both ceremonies are in Celebration Hall.
