Scott Wins 60m Title; Ravens Break School Record

The Hillcrest Academy Ravens girls track and field team tied for eleventh place at the IATC State indoor meet held at Iowa State University. Rya Scott ’26 defended her state title in the 60 meter dash winning with a time of 7.98 seconds. Scott placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.63 seconds. Scott also anchored the 4 x 100 meter relay team to a new school record of 52.88 seconds. The Ravens placed fifth in the event. Other members of the 4 x 100 meter relay squad include Brynna Boshart ’29, Adia Scott ’29 and Niva Helmuth ’26. The previous record of 52.96 was set in 1989 by Molly Swartzendruber ’92, Stacey Dickel ’91, Kina Miller ’92, and Amy Yoder ’91. Adia Scott also placed thirteenth in the 60 meters in 8.44 seconds and eighteenth in the 200 in 28.79 seconds. Helmuth placed seventeenth in the shot put with a throw of 29 feet 7.5 inches. Helmuth also placed twenty-sixth in the high jump clearing the bar at 4 feet 7 inches. Siena Stanerson ’26 was tenth in the 3000 in 11:49.90. Marie Yoder finished next in 12:05.54. Yoder also was seventeenth in 1500 in 5:40.84.
The Ravens take a week off for spring break and are back in action March 24 at Wartburg indoors.
