Carrie Schweitzer Takes Over Family & Consumer Sciences

Head of School, Nate Miller is happy to announce Carrie Schweitzer as our Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) teacher starting in the 2026-27 school year. Carrie is a Mid-Prairie alumna who went on to earn a BA in Education from the University of Iowa followed by more coursework at Iowa State to earn her FCS endorsement. She is currently teaching FCS at Mid-Prairie Middle School and also has experience as an elementary classroom teacher.

Carrie is married to Jason and they live on their family farm with their three children. She enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, walking, caring for their cattle, and her monthly book club. Carrie is looking forward to meeting and working with everyone at Hillcrest. She attends Kalona Mennonite Church with her family.
