Ravens Fill All-Superconference Teams With Five Selections

Thanks to our friend Zach Ulin from KCII Radio for providing the stats on our all-conference volleyball players.

A successful fall inside Hillcrest Union has led to a lot of hardware for the Hillcrest Academy Ravens volleyball team. Five Ravens were selected to All-Conference teams within the Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division.

Senior Niva Helmuth was a First-Team selection. Helmuth finished second in the North Division with a team best 203 kills. She also led the Ravens with 37 blocks, third in the SEISC, and a .213 swing efficiency, fourth in the Superconference. Her 44 aces put her sixth in conference and Helmuth added 112 digs on defense. The Ravens hitter was named Class 1A Southeast All-District by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Senior Claire Withrow was a Second-Team All-SEISC performer. She led Hillcrest with 393 assists, fourth highest total in the Superconference. Her 43 aces were sixth in the league. Withrow also piled up 142 digs, 72 kills and 13 blocks.

Junior Ruth Witthoft was a Second-Team All-Superconference selection. Her .152 swing efficiency placed her eighth in the conference to pair with her 91 kills, 43 aces and 14 blocks.

Hillcrest had a duo at the Honorable Mention level. Senior Stavia Miller led the Superconference with a 97.2% serve efficiency, 10th best in Class 1A. Her .133 swing efficiency was 10th best in the North Division. Miller also totaled 157 digs, 78 kills and 27 aces. Freshman Brynna Boshart was also an Honorable Mention choice. She led the Ravens with 61 aces, second best in the Superconference. She ended with a team-high 195 digs and added 90 kills.

Hillcrest finished the year with a 16-11 overall record and 4-4 mark in the SEISC, fifth in the league. It’s the first back-to-back winning seasons for the Ravens since 2017 and 2018. Six seniors depart from the Ravens roster including Claire Withrow, Nora Swartzentruber, Tara Poole, Niva Helmuth, Stavia Miller, and Adrianne Blauvelt.
