Stanerson Closes Career with Personal Best at State; Yoder Caps Strong Season

Senior Siena Stanerson and Junior Marie Yoder placed twenty-second and fortieth
respectively in the 1A girls race at the Iowa State Cross Country Championship Saturday
in Fort Dodge. Conditions at race time were ideal for distance running with temps in the
lower forties, mostly cloudy skies and a light breeze.

Stanerson had a tremendous race running an all-time personal best of 19:58 for twenty-
second place. Her previous personal best was set at the state qualifier meet in 2024. This
is Stanerson’s second cross country season at Hillcrest and her second state appearance.
This race was capstone performance for Siena’s high school cross country career.
Marie Yoder placed fortieth in 20:36. This equaled Yoder’s season best effort and was a
great way to finish another solid season for the Junior. This was Yoder’s third
appearance at the state meet in her third season at Hillcrest.
