Ravens Show Depth and Determination at Middle School State Meet

Dick Washburn Middle School Statewide Cross Country Meet

The Hillcrest Ravens middle school boys cross country team placed sixteenth of twenty-two full
teams at the Dick Washburn Middle School Statewide Cross Country meet Saturday in Ankeny.
Braxton Ropp ran a personal best of 13:07 to lead the Ravens placing fifty-fifth overall. The
meet was hosted by the Iowa Track and Field + Cross Country Coaches Association on the
campus of Ankeny Centennial High School. There is no qualifying meet prior to this statewide
event. The 1A race combined athletes from 7th and 8th grades scoring the top four from each
school. Merle Cronquist was the second finisher for the Ravens placing 105th in 14:25. Paxton
Wilson and Everett Ward teamed up running much of the race together. Wilson placed 115th in
14:50 while Ward ran a personal best of 14:51 to place 116th.
