The Hillcrest Academy Ravens are moving on to the boys’ golf state championships after the Class 1A district tournament at Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club in Wapello yesterday.

Hillcrest Academy finished third as a team with a combined score of 346 strokes, but it was enough to better both the Keota Eagles and Winfield-Mount Union Wolves for third place.

Ravens senior Liam Schrock was the individual district champion as well by shooting a three-over-par 75, collecting three birdies against six bogeys across 18 holes.

Junior teammate Rowan Miller was not far behind with a 79 to finish fourth overall, while junior Ethan Yoder fired a 95 and sophomore Lawson Schrock carded a 97 as Hillcrest heads back to a Class 1A state tournament that they won in 2023.

While Hillcrest returns to state, Keota and Winfield-Mount Union fell just short of repeat trips. In addition to the Wolves coming 11 strokes shy of the Ravens as a team, junior Max Edwards shot an 82 to lead WMU by was two strokes back of one of the two at-large qualifiers from the district.
