Junior Owen Scott won the long jump and broke the school record in the long jump at the 1A State Qualifier meet in Wayland Thursday night.  Scott’s jump of twenty-two feet seven and three quarters of an inch broke Zach Grimm’s record set in 1999 by one quarter of an inch.  Scott’s previous best was twenty-two feet six and one half inches set earlier this year.  By winning the event, Scott qualifies to compete at the State meet next week in Des Moines.  Scott was the only automatic qualifier from either the boys or girls teams Thursday.  The winners of each event automatically qualify.  The next fourteen best performances across the state also qualify for the state meet.  Those qualifiers will be announced sometime Friday.  Scott also placed second in the 400 meter dash in a personal best time of 53.21 seconds.  Kale Bailey was fourth in the high jump clearing the bar at six feet even.  The shuttle hurdle relay team of Braden Hartsock, Enoch Adza, Jack Turner and Gibson Scott placed sixth in 1:20.32.  Kayden Estell was seventh in the 100 meter dash in 12.09 seconds running into a stiff headwind.  Bailey was twelfth in 12.54 seconds.  Owen Scott was seventh in the 200 meter dash in 24.18 seconds.  Estell was eighth in 24.55.  The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Estell, Bailey, Gibson Scott and Owen Scott placed seventh in a season best time of 46.33 seconds.  Gibson Scott was ninth in the 110 meter high hurdles finishing in 17.94 seconds.  Braden Hartsock was tenth in the 3200 meter run in 12:35.27.  Jeremiah Danker lowered his personal best in the 800 meter run to 2:27.88.
