Hillcrest Posts Strong Showing at SEISC North Division Meet

The Hillcrest Lady Raven track and field team placed fifth of nine teams in the highly competitive north division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference in Wayland, Thursday. Hillcrest accumulated 86 team points. It was a pleasant evening under clear skies in Wayland. Junior Rya Scott headlined the team’s performance with two season-best times in the short sprints and anchoring the 4 x 100 relay team to a season-best time. Scott won the 100 meter dash in 12.76 seconds. Stavia Miller was sixth place in a personal best time of 13.58 seconds. Scott won the 200 meter dash in 26.63 seconds. Delaney Shaw placed sixth in a personal best time of 29.58 seconds. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Miller, Karina Bourha, Niva Helmuth and Scott placed third in a season best time of 53.56 seconds. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Miller, Bourha, Helmuth and Shaw placed second in a season-best time of 1:53.98. Marie Yoder and Siena Stanerson were third and fourth in both the 1500 and 3000 meter runs. Scott placed third in the long jump with her best jump of fifteen feet six inches. Shaw was sixth in fourteen feet four inches. Niva Helmuth placed fourth in the shot put. Her best throw was thirty feet two and one-quarter inch. Helmuth also placed sixth in the high jump, clearing the bar at four feet six inches. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Shaw, Yoder, Stanerson and Bourha placed fifth in 4:59.37. Marryn Boshart’s first throw in the discus is a new personal best, measuring sixty-six feet seven inches. Tara Poole placed eight,h scoring a point in the 100 meter hurdles in 19.34 seconds.

The Ravens boys’ track and field team placed seventh of nine teams in the north division of the SEISC at WACO. Owen Scott won the long jump, jumping twenty feet nine inches into a slight headwind. Scott also recorded a huge personal best time in the 200 meter dash of 23.68 seconds to place fourth in the event. Kayden Estell placed fifth in the 200 in 24.29. Scott was third in the 100, crossing the line 11.57 seconds after the gun. Estell was eighth in 11.76 seconds. Freshman Gibson Scott placed sixth in both individual hurdle events. His time in the 110 meter high hurdles was 17.82 seconds. His time in the 400 meter hurdles was 1:05.64. Braden Hartsock also completed the one lap hurdle race in 1:08.95. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Estell, Cohen Nachtigall, Gibson and Owen placed seventh in 48.04 seconds. The 800 meter sprint medley relay team of Estell, Jack Turner, Gibson and Nachtigall also placed seventh. Their time was 1:51.39. Braden Hartsock and Jeremiah Danker were ninth and eleventh in the 3200 meter run. Danker also competed in both the 400 and 800 meter runs.
