Ravens Split Superconference Dual With Falcons; Schrock and O’Rourke Lead With Tournament Personal Bests
May 2, 2025
The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls golf teams wrapped up a week of competition in Kalona Thursday hosting Louisa-Muscatine in a pair of Southeast Iowa Superconference duals. The Raven boys bounced back from their first defeat of the year Monday against Winfield-Mt. Union with a 168-204 victory over the Falcons. The Ravens swept the medals with Liam Schrock seeing red, posting a lifetime tournament best, three-under-par 33 for low round of the day, followed by teammate Rowan Miller with an even par 36. The Hillcrest pair spoke with KCII Sports about the night.

Schrock said, “Tonight, my putting was great! That and chipping. If I missed the green it was up and down, or like on hole four, it was just down. I eagled hole four tonight. I had a very nice drive, and then I chipped in. It was very good.”

Miller continued, “Everything for me was pretty good tonight. I thought my short-game was the best. Basically just had one bad shot in the round. Other than that, everything was clicking. My best tonight was probably hole nine. I hit a three-wood over the trees about 20 yards short of the green, then gave myself a four foot uphill putt, which is exactly what you want. Three good shots. Very pleased with that!”

Other Hillcrest cards included Ethan Yoder 49, Matthew Chalupa and Lawson Schrock each at 50 and Rylan Good 52.

The Raven girls came up short by eight strokes 235-243. Brynna O’Rourke was best for Hillcrest a career low round of 54. She spoke with KCII Sports about her day.

O’Rourke said, “Best part of my game today was probably my driving. It was better today than it has been at other meets. Hole eight, I drove next to the green. I chipped it and hit the pin and then putted for par.”
