The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls and boys soccer teams met the Tipton Tigers Monday in a pair of River Valley Conference matches. The Golden Hawk girls earned a 1-1 draw against the Tigers, playing at Hillcrest Academy. The Hawks collected their goal on a Lydia Beachy penalty kick in the first half. Her fifth goal of the year. The Tigers answered with a Koda Fogg tally, and both sides defenses shut down everything else the rest of the night. Following the match, Golden Hawk head coach Truman Shetler talked with KCII Sports about his takeaways, “We had more possession. I feel like Tipton didn’t have any dangerous shots. I feel like for the most part we did a really good job of marking up their player in the midfield and making it tough for their offense and shutting her down. So I was very pleased with the defense. Offensively, we were able to put up some chances again tonight. A couple of those chances we couldn’t quite finish but, we got a PK that we put in. Overall, I was pleased with the effort. The results aren’t coming yet, but we’ll keep working at it and hopefully a win streak is coming soon!”

The Tigers won shots on goal 12-6, each team took three corner kicks. Niva Helmuth had 10 saves in goal for the Golden Hawks, Braxlyn Ehlers posted 16 for the Tigers. Mid-Prairie is now 3-5-2 after the tie while Tipton stands at 3-4-1. The Golden Hawks are on the road tonight at Dyersville-Beckman.
