Hillcrest Girls Track Captures Third in Competitive Aamodt Relays; Raven Boys Shine with Multiple Top Finishes

The Ravens girls track and field team placed third in a field of nine teams at the Dave Aamodt Relays in Mediapolis Thursday.  The cool temperature was moderated by clear skies and virtually no wind.  It was a great evening for track and field.  Event winners for the lady Ravens include Marie Yoder in the 3000 with a season best 11:18.68.  Rya Scott won the 200 meter dash in 27.32 seconds.  Niva Helmuth won the high jump with a new personal best of four feet ten inches.  Scott was also second in the 100 meter dash and the long jump.  Yoder placed second in the 800.  The 4 x 200 meter relay of Stavia Miller, Helmuth, Morgyn Nafziger and Karina Bourha placed third in a season best time of 1:55.96.  The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Nafziger, Miller, Delaney Shaw and Scott place fourth in a season best time of 54.06.  Helmuth placed fourth in the shot put with a personal best throw of twenty-eight feet eleven inches.  The 800 medley relay team of Nafziger, Natalie Meganathan, Miller and Bourha placed sixth in 2:07.13.  Other sixth place scorers were Shaw in the 400 and Miller in the 200.

The Ravens boys track and field team placed seventh in a field of eleven teams at the Dave Aamodt Relays Thursday in Mediapolis.  Owen Scott was the team’s lone event winner taking the long jump with his single measured jump of twenty-two feet four and one half inch.  Owen qualified for the long jump at the Drake Relays with a blue standard jump of twenty-two feet six and one half inch last week at Van Buren.  Gibson Scott placed third in the 110 meter high hurdles clearing the 10 barriers and covering the distance in 18.10 seconds.  Gibson placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:06.11.  Owen placed fourth in the 100 meter dash in 11.87.  Kayden Estell placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in 25.19 seconds.  The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Estell, Cohen Nachtigall, Jack Turner and Owen Scott placed fourth in 1:43.52.  The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Gibson Scott, Nachtigall, Estell and Owen Scott placed sixth.  The sprint medley team of Nachtigall, Turner, Estell and Enoch Adza ran a season best to place tenth.  Braden Hartsock inspired the entire team to cheer at the edge of the track as he battled to the wire to win his heat of the 800 in a personal best 2:24.18.
