Yoder & Stanerson Run at State Meet

Sophomore Marie Yoder and Junior Siena Stanerson placed eighth and thirty-second
respectively in the 1A girls race at the Iowa State Cross Country Championship Saturday
in Fort Dodge. Conditions at race time were ideal for distance running with temps in the
upper forties, mostly cloudy skies, and a light breeze.

This was Yoder’s second appearance at the meet and her second time being all-state (top
15). Yoder’s time of 19:16 is twenty-five seconds faster than her run at the state meet
last year and by far her best effort to date. “Marie has had a solid season running
consistently well throughout the season and capping off the season with her fastest race.”
Siena Stanerson placed thirty-second with a time of 20:13. This was Stanerson’s first
appearance at the state meet. “Siena has really come on strong in the last five weeks of
the season setting a new personal best in each of five successive meets culminating with
the state qualifier meet last week. Today wasn’t a personal best for Stanerson but she is
now at an entirely different level than she was six weeks ago!”
