Homecoming at Hillcrest: A Weekend of Tradition and Celebration
Hillcrest Academy was abuzz with excitement as alumni from near and far returned to campus for the annual Homecoming weekend. The event, held on October 4-5, 2024, was a celebration of tradition, camaraderie, and the enduring spirit of the school.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the alumni soccer game, a friendly match that pitted former players against each other in a battle of skill and nostalgia. The game was filled with laughter, cheers, and plenty of friendly banter as alumni relived their glory days on the pitch.

The Joetown Classic was another popular event, bringing together current students, alumni, and the local community (young and old) for a morning run or walk around our campus and neighboring Joetown. The weather was as perfect as the homemade cinnamon rolls the two winning runners received at the conclusion of the race.

The Pork Supper was a delicious and satisfying way to conclude the weekend. The community gathered in the Hillcrest Union to enjoy the traditional pork dinner, complete with all the fixings. The supper was a chance for alumni to reconnect with old friends and family while enjoying a delicious meal.

In addition to these events, the weekend also included class reunions for alumni from various graduating years. For the classes of 1959, 1969, and 1984 their reunions provided an opportunity for classmates to catch up, share memories, and celebrate their time in school together.
Overall, Homecoming at Hillcrest Academy was a resounding success. The weekend was a testament to the enduring spirit of the school and the strong bonds formed among its alumni. As the sun set on another memorable Homecoming, the Hillcrest community looked forward to the next year’s celebration.
