Yoder Wins at Burlington

Sophomore Marie Yoder ran away with the girls individual title at the Tony Proctor Invitational in Burlington at the Burlington Recplex Thursday.  Her time of 20:23 was over one minute ahead of second place Hannah Karre of Keokuk.  Karre won the race in 2023 while Yoder was second.  Junior Siena Stanerson cracked the twenty-two minute barrier for the first time finishing in fourth place in 21:46.  Rya Scott marked her one-year anniversary of varsity competition at Hillcrest by placing thirteenth in 23:53.  Delaney Shaw was the next Lady Raven to finish in Burlington.  Shaw placed twenty-fifth in 26:38.  Brynna O’Rourke had a season-best time of 28:04 to place twenty-ninth.  The Lady Ravens tied for second place with Mediapolis.  The team’s sixth runners break the tie.  Hillcrest did not have six runners.  Keokuk won the team title with 32 points.

Senior Jesse Blossom led the Ravens boys cross country team Thursday in Burlington to a fifth-place finish in the team standings. Blossom toured the flat course at 19:38 to finish eleventh.  Braden Hartsock continues to run four to five minutes faster than last year.  His time of 20:45 is a new personal best and placed him twenty-first.    Isaac Beachy was the next Raven finisher placing twenty-fourth in 21:26.  Senior Jeremiah Danker came through with a big personal best effort of 22:41 for thirty-fourth place.  Mateo Rodriguez-Yoder also ran his fastest race to date finishing in 24:11 for thirty-seventh place.  Junior Lincoln Bainbridge of Van Buren County won the race in 17:01.  Van Buren also won the team title by five points over defending champion Mediapolis.

For middle school, Jaxon Brokaw took fifth with a time of 12:54 and Calvin Meller took sixth at 13:03. Simon Willems, Oliver Miller, Evan Slaubaugh, and Lucas Beachy all had personal bests! For complete boys and girls middle school results, click the links below.
