Hillcrest Academy Cross-Country Team’s Unforgettable Colorado Adventure

In July, eleven members of the cross country team spent a week in Colorado. The biennial trip is the eleventh such trip cross-country coach Marty Gingerich has led with team members from Hillcrest Academy and from other area high schools. This group is the first that has NOT included team members from other schools. During the week the athletes hiked, scrambled on rocks, white water rafted through the Royal Gorge, did fire mitigation work at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, played games, bunked in cabins, summited Pike’s Peak and ran on some very scenic routes. “The time we spend together as a team during this trip helps us get to know each other on a deeper level. The trip has many very enjoyable moments but it also has some
very challenging and difficult times. This helps prepare us for the enjoyable and challenging times that await us in our upcoming season.”
