Portillo Joins The Kitchen Staff

Principal Dwight Gingerich is pleased to announce that Maria Portillo will join the Hillcrest Academy team to fill our Assistant Cook position. Maria and her family moved from El Salvador to California ten years ago, and then to the Iowa City area in 2016.

Maria is married to Miguel and they have three children, Miguel, Jackie and Maria ’26, and two grandchildren. In her free time, Maria enjoys cooking, spending time with her children and grandchildren, working outside and helping others. Maria and her family attend First Mennonite Church in Iowa City.
