Hillcrest vs. Waco, Friday, May 3
The Hillcrest Ravens boys and girls golf teams won both their meets Friday night. The girls won 277-303. They were led by Claire Withrow who shot a season best 58. That was also good for 1st medalist of the day. Brynna O’Rourke made her first par of the year on the very first hole, hitting the green in regulation and a two putt. She finished with a 66. Ava Miller and Maria Portillo added a 75 and 78, respectively. Natalie Meganathan had an 81, while Izzy Frederick ended the day with a 91.

The boys finished their regular season with a 213-226 victory. They were led by Liam Schrock with a 40, who was also 1st place medalist. Ethan Yoder finished with a 53. Lawson Schrock added a 58. Rylan Good and Matthew Chalupa ended the day with 62 and 63, respectively. The conditions were very tough. There was a lot of standing water, long grass, and a fungus growing on the greens that was being treated. Despite the conditions, the Ravens secured a winning regular season, finishing at 17-15.

Girls Golf Conference Meet, Monday, May 6
The entire Ravens girls golf team played in their first-ever conference tournament. The Superconference is large with 13 teams. There were several schools with new golfers as the numbers increased from last year.

The Ravens managed to place 11th with a 573 team total. Winning this year were the Huskies from Highland with a 380. Leading the way for Hillcrest were Claire Withrow (63,63) and Ava Miller (76,66). Izzy Frederick added a (74,77). Brynna O’Rourke finished with a (75,79). Ending the day were Maria Portillo (87,73) and Natalie Meganathan (92,70).

Coach Schintler added, “The double-digit holes on the scorecards are slowly disappearing. Shots are getting purer and longer. More putts are dropping. They continue to grind.”
