Rya Scott won four individual events for the Ravens Friday night in Brooklyn.  The Hillcrest Ravens Track and Field teams traveled to Brooklyn Friday to compete at the Bear Classic Relays hosted by BGM.  This meet replaced the Louisa-Muscatine meet that was rained out Thursday.  Since Hillcrest was a late addition to the meet, the tiny school competed in the larger of two divisions based on school size to better fill out the events.  It was a windy night in Brooklyn.  Scott started the evening winning the long jump fighting a wind from the side.  Her final jump was the farthest measuring fifteen feet 7.50 inches.  Morgyn Nafziger placed eighth in the long jump.  With the wind at her back, Scott sped through the 100 meter dash in a personal best time of 13.00 seconds.  Nafziger was fifth in that race finishing in 14.41 seconds.  The 400 meter dash was next for Scott.  She led from the gun finishing the one lap race in 1:03.81 despite the head wind on the back stretch.  Scott’s final event of the night was the 200 meter dash.  Her winning time of 27.63 seconds equals her personal best time set earlier this season.  Natalie Meganathan also recorded a personal best time in the 200 meter dash finishing in 33.25 seconds.  Marie Yoder won both distance events in the large school division of the meet.  She completed the 3000 meter run in 11:54.10.  Siena Stanerson placed third in the 3000 in 12:18.37.  Yoder’s winning time in the 1500 was 5:24.56.  Stanerson ran in the 800 for the first time this year recording a personal best of 2:59.85 while placing fifth.  Tara Poole ran in her first 100 meter hurdle race of the season covering the distance in 20.17 seconds.  Nour Ayoub also competed in both the shot put and discus events for the first time this season.

Owen Scott won the long jump and placed in two other events in the boys division of the meet.  All the boys teams competed in the same class.  The boys had the wind to their back in the long jump.  Scott did not let the opportunity pass.  All four of his jumps exceeded 20 feet with his furthest jump measuring twenty-one feet 5.50 inches.  This is a new personal best.  Braden Hartsock also competed in the long jump with fifteen feet 7.50 inches being his best mark.  Scott tied for second in the high jump clearing five feet eight inches.  Scott also had the wind to his back in the 100 meter dash.  He placed fourth in a new personal best time of 11.81 seconds taking over .4 seconds off his previous record.  Hartsock also competed in two running events finishing both in personal best times.  He finished the 800 meters in 2:45.09.  Hartsock’s new best time in the 1600 meters is 6:00.60.  The Ravens compete next Thursday April 25 at WACO at the Ekstrand Relays in Wayland.
