Hillcrest vs Highland Golf
Friday, April 19
Claire Withrow and Ava Miller continue to fire in the 60’s at Blue Top Friday afternoon against Highland. They carded a 67 and a 68 respectively. Brynna O’Rourke and Izzy Frederick continued to improve each with a pair of 84’s. The team total wasn’t enough though, as Highland came out on top 232-301. The girls bested their previous score at Blue Top by 20 strokes.
On the boys side, Highland did not field enough golfers and could not enter a team score on their end. However, on the individual end, Rowan Miller once again took medalist with a 4 under par 32. After his round, he then joined his teammates at Hillcrest Soccer Field and scored two goals. Finishing for the Ravens were Matt Chalupa 47, Liam Schrock 48 and Rylan Good for the top 4 score team total of 178. Ethan Yoder added a 56, while Lawson Schrock finished with a 64.
The Bob Schmadeke Invitational Grundy Center
Saturday, April 20
Winter Coats. Gloves. Ski masks. Parents and spectators in enclosed windproof golf carts. That was what it was like Saturday morning at tee time and throughout the early afternoon in Grundy Center at the Class 2A Bob Schmadeke Invitational in Grundy Center. Eight teams competed in 38 degree weather with 30-35 mph sustained winds, 28 wind chill, that would not quit. Every golfer out there was a warrior for 18 holes.
Leading the Ravens were Rowan Miller and Liam Schrock with 86’s. Seth Ours followed with a 92. Matt Chalupa ended the day with a 111. Rylan Good and Ethan Yoder finished with a 120 and 127, respectively.
Hillcrest finished 7th out of 8 in the team race. Final scores for the day were Grundy Center 330, Beckman Catholic 331, Osage 342, Hudson 349, BCLUW 360, Union Community 362, Hillcrest Academy 375 and Roland Story 378.
