Miller Shines Again in Wapello 18 Hole Invite

Despite Rowan Miller getting his third straight medalist award, the Hillcrest Ravens fell to second place in the Wapello 18 Hole Invite that had six teams. Rowan finished with a 3 over par 75, 8 strokes ahead of the next competitor. Winfield Mt.-Union finished first with a team 348, the Ravens second with a 357, Wapello 371, Columbus Jct. 416, Danville 427 and Highland only fielded three boys today.

It was a cold morning and the Ravens could not get anything to fall. Seth Ours had an 88, Liam Schrock 90, Matthew Chalupa 104, Lawson Schrock 114 and Ethan Yoder 117.

The girls team competed in their first ever 18 hole invite together. Despite finishing sixth, being brand new to the game, there were some bright spots. Claire Withrow carded her first par ever on hole #17, a par 3. She reached the green in regulation and two putted. She also bogied two other holes. She had a 72 front nine and her lowest 9 hole ever on the back nine, a 62 for a 134. Ava Miller fired a 72 on the back nine and Brynna O’Rourke had a 68 on the back nine. Final for each were Claire Withrow 134, Brynna O’Rourke 142, Ava Miller 152, Natalie Meganathan 157 and Maria Portillo 163.

Highland finished first with 400, Louisa-Muscatine 423, Columbus Jct. 476, Winfield Mt. Union 515, Wapello 532 and Hillcrest with 585.
