Ravens Golf Teams Split Meet Results

Hillcrest went to Cedar Crest Golf Club on what started as a sunny morning. The travel from Hillcrest to Columbus Junction was a wet one. Intermittent rain was the norm all the way there. Once there, it became very windy with sustained winds of 25 mph and gusts even higher. The course was a little packed as 2A Wilton girls joined in for a triangular, while the boys remained a dual.

The girls, in just their second meet ever for any of them, had a team score of 295, besting their first score from the other day of 321, shaving off 26 strokes. Though they fell short of Wilton’s 209 and Columbus’ 253, it was an admirable performance under horrible weather conditions. It rained approximately half the time on the course with “feels like” temperatures under 40 degrees.

Claire Withrow led the Ravens with a 67. Maria Portillo added a 71. Brynna O’Rourke and Ava Miller finished the scoring with 78 and 79, respectively. Nour Ayoub for JV also shot under 80.  The team shot very well considering they lost two scorers due to injury and illness during the meet.

The boys continued to improve as they defeated Columbus 174-203. The Ravens were led by Rowan Miller and Liam Schrock who both carded as 1st place medalists with a 40. Seth Ours, in his first meet of the year, birdied his last hole and finished with a 44. Rounding out the rest of the scores were Matthew Chalupa 50, Rylan Good 55 and Ethan Yoder 57. Danny Meyer and Phoenix Anderson were able to squeeze on the course and play JV.
