Victory on the Green: Ravens Golf Defeats the Lions

Hillcrest has not had a girls golf team in five years. This year there are seven girls out for golf. Today was, for six of them, their first competition in golf against Lone Tree at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course. And what a great start! Ava Miller had a 74 and was first medalist, with Claire Withrow runner up medalist with a 76. Hillcrest had a team total of 321. Though Lone Tree only fielded three players today, Hillcrest girls bested them as Lone Tree’s top scores were 86, 89 and 107. Finishing for Hillcrest was Izzy Frederick 83, Maria Portillo 88, Brynna O’Rourke 90 and Nour Ayoub 98. Not a bad start for a very young team!

Hillcrest boys continued to roll from last year’s state championship team as they fired a team total 182 with new boys in the lineup for the first meet. Leading the way was Rowan Miller, medalist of the day with a scratch 36. Liam Schrock finished runner up medalist with a 40. Matthew Chalupa and Rylan Good each chipped in with a 53. Phoenix Anderson added a 58. Rounding out the day was Ethan Yoder with a 63. Hillcrest’s final score was 182, Lone Tree 243. This score was with three new boys who have never golfed in competition before. Hillcrest is just getting started…
