March Chapel Recap

March Chapel Recap

We had another good month of chapel at Hillcrest! We continue our weekly pattern of spiritual practice (Monday), small groups (Tuesday), faith formative input (Wednesday-Thursday), and worship (Friday).

Our first week of March included a continued reflection on Isaiah, 43:1, “Thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.” Students were invited to journal and discuss what it means and feels like to hear that God calls us by name.

After spring break, we began a theme on The Gospel. Our hope is that every student at Hillcrest has the opportunity to understand the basic message of the Gospel and to respond to the invitation to follow Jesus. Teachers, Sierra Cheney and Andrea Farrier have taken the lead in presenting the Gospel, as well as providing journal prompts for students to reflect on. We plan to keep returning to the theme of the Gospel throughout the final two months of the school year.

We also heard encouraging messages throughout March from Elmer Miller, Bryn Hovde, Mike Severino-Patterson, and Tony Widdell. We invite your continued prayers as we enter the homestretch of the calendar.

We invite your continued prayers in the weeks and months to come. As always, the community is welcome to join us for chapel every day (except for Tuesdays when we have small groups) from 9:59-10:19 AM. Here is a link to the most up to date chapel schedule in case you’d like to see what’s coming. We would love to see you!
