KELLOGG CLUTCH AS WOLVES HOLD OFF HILLCREST
The Winfield-Mt. Union girls basketball team defended their home court Saturday afternoon against the visitors from Hillcrest Academy, scoring a 43-42 victory. In a back and forth affair much of the day, the Wolves led 16-13 after one, only to see the defenses dig in during the second period to give the Ravens a 21-20 lead at intermission. The defenses dictated the action again in the third, this time to WMU’s benefit as the Lady Wolves took a 29-26 lead to the fourth. The two squad would continue to ride the see-saw, with the Ravens holding a slim 42-40 lead in the final minute. WMU’s Madisen Kellogg delivered late with a three-point play on a put-back to make it 43-42 Wolves. The Ravens had a pair of shots on their last trip but came up empty.
