State Cross Country Championship at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course, Fort Dodge

Freshman Marie Yoder earned all-state honors at the Iowa High School Cross Country
Championships held in Fort Dodge Friday. Yoder placed thirteenth in the 1A race with a
time of 19:41. The top fifteen in each class are all-state. Yoder’s time is a new personal
best. Her previous best was 20:22.

“Marie ran beyond expectations today. The cold windy day and the course being soft
from rain the night before did not slow Marie one bit. Today was a great day for
Hillcrest cross country. This is the fastest any Lady Raven at Hillcrest has ever run a 5k cross
country course. Congratulations Marie!”

Four area runners took the course Friday in Fort Dodge for the Class 1A State Cross Country Championships at Kennedy Park.

The local quartet was led by Hillcrest Academy’s Marie Yoder. The freshman finished in 13th place with a time of 19:41. The finish earned her an All-State medal and set a new Raven girl’s school record.
