Yoder places second at conference meet

Freshman Marie Yoder places second at the SEISC meet on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

Freshman Marie Yoder placed second at the Southeast Iowa Super Conference cross country meet at Central Lee in rural Donnellson Thursday.  Yoder ran in third place much of the race and moved into second place a half mile from the finish.  Her time was 20:48.  Chloe Glosser of Pekin, last year’s conference champ, won the race in 19:54.  Sophomore Rya Scott also had a great race for the Ravens placing nineteenth in 23:52.  The top fifteen finishers are all-conference.  Junior Delaney Shaw had a breakout performance placing thirty-third in a personal best time of 24:55 beating her previous record set last year.  This also eclipsed her season best time by over one minute.  Brynna O’Rourke had a good race placing fifty-fifth in 27:44.  Hillcrest did not have enough runners for a team score.  Pekin won the team title with Danville placing second.

Micah Gerber led the Raven harriers in the boys conference race.  Gerber placed twenty-third in 19:12.  Jesse Blossom was six places back placing twenty-ninth in 19:31.  Both Juniors nearly equaled their season best times.  Freshman Isaac Beachy passed a large group of runners in the final one hundred meters to land in sixty-eighth place in a personal best time of 21:52.  Classmate Braden Hartsock continued to be a consistent contributor to the team placing ninety-second in a new personal best time of 23:27.  Junior Jeremiah Danker was not far behind placing ninety-fifth in his own personal best time of 23:34.  Sophomore Micah Kacmarynski placed one hundred sixth in 25:51.  Kacmarynski also recorded a new personal best.  Kyle Neuschwander was the seventh Raven to finish placing one hundred sixteenth.  As a team Hillcrest placed tenth out of eleven full teams.  Mediapolis won the team title with Danville placing second.  Solomon Zaugg of Mediapolis won the race for the second year in a row.  His time was 16:38.
