Finding A New Chapel Rhythm For A New Year

Finding A New Chapel Rhythm For A New Year

According to new Bible teacher and chapel coordinator, Corben Weaver Boshart, “We have had a good start to the year in chapel! We are also so excited to welcome our new sixth grade into our chapel rhythm here at Hillcrest!

The high school meets every day for chapel from 9:59-10:19 AM. The sixth grade meets on Monday and Wednesday for chapel from 10:25-10:45 AM in the high school Bible class room. On Fridays, we bring the whole school together for a chapel service focused on worship through music.

We began the year by introducing our school theme, “Kindness,” as well as our theme verse from Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

If you come to Celebration Hall, you will be able to see a “chain” we created during the first week of school to symbolize the acts of hospitality and kindness that bring us together as a school community.

Since then, we have had three new faculty panels, five speakers, and a variety of opportunities for reflection, worship, and prayer.

We have continued our school tradition of meeting in small groups of 6-8 students on Tuesdays during chapel. These groups are an opportunity for students and faculty to grow in fellowship, dig deeper in faith, and of course, eat together!

As a final note, Corben said, “We are especially grateful for the ways in which our local congregations have stepped in to provide speakers and hymn leaders. These have been meaningful ways to remind our students of the great love and support that they are surrounded by in this community.”

And remember, you can always check out all our chapels at hillcrestravens.org/chapel, or feel free to stop by at 9:59 AM and join us!
