Yoder wins A division at Fairfield

Freshman Marie Yoder places first in A division at Waterworks Park.

Hillcrest Cross Country At Fairfield, Waterworks Park
Juniors Micah Gerber and Jesse Blossom led the Hillcrest Raven harriers Thursday in Fairfield. Over twenty teams with 176 total finishers competed in the boy’s race. Team results were split out based on school size with Hillcrest placing eighth of nine teams smaller school A division. Both A and AA divisions competed in the same race. Gerber placed thirty-seventh overall in 19:27. Blossom placed fifty-second in a new personal best time of 20:03. Isaac Beachy was the next Raven finisher completing the course in 22:40. That’s a new personal best for him. Braden Hartsock also had a personal best finishing in 25:36. Kyle Neuschwander was the next finisher from Hillcrest. His time of 25:50 is his new personal best. Jeremiah Danker was one tick behind Neuschwander at 25:51. Micah Kacmarynski rounded out the team’s finish in style with his new personal best of time of 26:09. Micah Rees of Washington was the individual winner of the combined race finishing in a blazing 15:49 while Owen Schmidgall of Mediapolis was the first A division finisher finishing in 16:53. Mediapolis won the A division team title.

Freshman Marie Yoder won the A division at the Fairfield Invitational Cross Country meet Thursday at Waterworks Park in Fairfield. Yoder placed third overall in a personal best time of 21:12. Delaney Shaw also had a great race placing eighty-ninth in 26:46. Shaw had the biggest improvement on the team from her time at the Hillcrest Early Bird. Brynna O’Rourke placed 109^th in 28:32 taking over one minute off her personal best time. There were 144 finishers in the girl’s race. Avery Rump of Fort Madison won the girl’s overall title in 20:19. Mediapolis won the A team division. Hillcrest did not have the five finishers required for a team score.
