Chapels Celebrate the End of the School Year: May 15-26

Our chapels for these last two weeks of school have featured a variety of end-of-the-year events.

On Monday, May 15, we heard reflections from Leanne Bender, school counselor, and Don Patterson, maintenance director here at Hillcrest. Both Leanne and Don are moving on to other involvements and will not be at Hillcrest next year.

Tuesday’s chapel time was spent in small groups.

Wednesday featured more reflections from departing staff: Marissa Unruh, administrative assistant, Adam Voth Unruh, longterm music substitute, and Lee Ebersole, Bible instructor and chapel coordinator.

On Thursday, we had our last Praise Band chapel. Departing seniors on Praise Band, Josiah Beachy, Grant Bender, Hannah Chalupa, and Taryn Leichty, chose the songs that were led.

For Friday’s chapel, we heard reflections from seniors Hannah Chalupa and Mariam Sow. We then viewed a slideshow featuring pictures of our seniors. The chapel ended with a prayer of blessing for the seniors since this was the last day for them.

Our chapel time on Monday, May 22 featured Shelby Graber, one of the pastors at Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church. Shelby shared with us thoughts about true joy.

As we often do on Tuesday, we spent our time in small groups.

With Wednesday being the first day of finals, we had a time of relaxation with music, art, and coloring options.

We wrapped up the year by filling out a survey about our experience with chapel this year. Andrea Farrier, English teacher, closed out with a prayer of blessing.
